Session 16 Announcement

Start Date : November 24th, 2009
End Date : December 14th, 2009

Theme : Unconventional Weaponry

Ramming, reflecting enemy shots, rotating orbs, swords, boomerangs, charged attacks, stealing enemy bullets, stealing enemy weapons, stealing enemies, or using the environment are just a few ideas to get your started.

Just no lasers.  Beams, machineguns, and spreadfire attacks are right out.

A nice, broad theme to experiment with.  And a few extra days in which to do it Smiley  Get 'er done!

I really like this theme, because it's just the sort of thing I tend to think about. This would also be perfect for me to revive my concept from session 14. However, I've just picked up a new hobby, and am working on starting a small business of sorts, so I'm not sure if I have time for this anymore... Sad

Have to admit, I was surprised this theme hadn't been done when I looked through the archives.  Guess I'll use my backup idea if I happen to win this one...   Cool

i think this theme doesnt really fit the purpose. i appreciate an attempt to be creative and innovative but you cant develope a shooter in which its forbidden to shoot. although there already was a theme with similar aspirations (1st one).
on another note you can be proud that you have already done 15 sessions, almost a full year

Count me out.  Well, count us all out I guess, considering the deadline's passed.  I want to make something of my idea because I liked it, but I guess it will have to wait.

After a couple of hard work weeks I decided to join the session last minute since I liked the theme. However I found myself in trouble. One of my engine's tools stopped working (it doesn't start and consumes 50% of my CPU). Trying to find out the problem, I opened the project and set a breakpoint in the very first line in the main() funciton. A msdos shows (as expected) but the breakpoint is never reached and again 50% of CPU usage. I suspected malware but scanning I found nothing. Start to think it's a mutex problem with some windows DLLs...? Is my windows corrupted? Wasted lots of time and haven't found a solution and didn't join the session at the end Sad

Looking forward to hear any news about this session since I kinda have an idea for the theme IF I manage to restore my production PC   Embarrassed
