banking

wondering how you all bank your ships in blitz.  do you use mouseXspeed to determine the animation frames?  something like this (basic example, not worrying about X direction atm)?

Select True
    Case MouseXSpeed() = 0
        animframe = 1
    Case MouseXSpeed() > 0 And MouseXSpeed < 5
        animframe = 2
    Case MouseXSpeed() > 5 And MouseXSpeed < 10
        animframe = 3

yadda yadda...

Hmm I would have it like this..

If Mouse X is really far away from where ship is, hard bank.. If mouse X is closer to where ship is, less bank.

i guess i could load a small image at the mouse pointer, hide it, then have the player's ship "follow" it at all times for smoothness... aaaaand then animate the ship according to distance.

Yeah.. You can also make the ships speed a variant of how far away it is from the mouse cursor.  I did this and it works AWESOME..

i have the smoothing down, just gotta work out the animation.  normally it isn't a problem for me in blitz3d with 3d models, but this sprite stuff is all new to me heh.  plus, i'm using sprite candy and it has its' own animation routines.
